MOTOR-LORRY FATALITY.
Napier, July 16. Edwin Phillips, of Napier, was killed early this afternoon as the result of a motor-lorry he was driving leaving the road in the Matahourua Gorge and falling 120 feet into the stream below. The lorry was travelling at a moderate speed round the bend when it appears a sudden application of brakes caused it to skid and go over the side of the road. Some months ago a service car went over the bank in this gorge and three people were killed.
