IMPROVED POSTAL ARRANGEMENTS. REPLY TO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE DEPUTATION. The secretary of the Foxton Chamber of Commerce has received the follow letter from the Postmaslor General: — - “With reference to the deputation from your chamber which waited upon the Postmaster, Foxlon, on the 25th ultimo and requested the sorting of the Wellington mail at (i a.m. instead of 8 p.m.: I have to inform you that arrangements have been made for tho requests to be complied with. I would also point out that correspondence posted at Foxton in time for the 3 p.m. mail connects with the ferry steamer. In consequence of the re-ar-rangement of the hours of duty at the Foxton office, the Marotiri and Moutoa mails will, in future, close at 0.30 a.m. daily instead of 8 p.m. the previous evening.” Notification has also been received that the Manawatu Heads will now have a daily mail instead of tri-weekly. Tins has been brought about by Mr. Wishart offering to carry the mails daily for the same price as tri-weekly. If Foxton is to have increased postal facilities it is tip to the town and country residents to patronise the post office and take advantage of the facilities offered. The Postmaster informs us that there are several post office boxes still unoccupied. Country residents should not lose sight of the fact that they may obtain a box at an annual ren--1 al "of 10/-.
