INCREASED POSTAL FACILITIES.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SUGGESTION ADOPTED.

The local Postmaster (Mr Newton) informed the secretary of the Foxton Chamber of Commerce this afternoon that the Chamber’s request that the 2.45 p.m. mail connect with the ferry boats had received attention and the new service was now operating. The other requests in connection with closing time for mails were also receiving attention, he said. As a result of the above, it is now possible to post a letter at 2.45 p.m. that ’will arrive in the South Island early the following morning. Previously 7 letters posted in the afternoon did not connect with the ferry boat and consequently were delayed for twenty-four hours.
