PARLIAMENT.

In the House on Thursday, the Prime Minister gave notice of his intention to introduce the Oil in Territorial Waters Bill. The Hon. F. J.. Rolleston gave notice of his intention to move the Police Offences Amendment Bill and the Evidence Amendment Bill. The Hon. A. D. McLeod gave notice of his intention to introduce the Industrial Societies Amendment Bill. The following consolidating and amending Bills were introduced by Governor-General’s Message: — National Provident, Public Revenues, Local Bodies’ Loans, Mines and Mining. The Prime Minister explained that the Minister of Mjnes had some amendments to make having reference to oil-bearing country, but they, were not included in the Mines and Mining Bill, which was purely a consolidating Bill. Later the Minister of Mines would move into the Bill amendments simplifying the process of giving and acquiring rights relating to oil. Other amending and consolidating measures introduced were the Samoan Bill, Death Duties, Scenery Preservation, Registration of Opticians, Reservation of Lands, Fire Boards, .Census and Statistics, Destitute Persons, Public Hospitals and Charitable Aid and Registration of Veterinary Surgeons. These Bills were read a first time and referred to special committees.
