FOOTBALL.

SHANNON JUNIORS (40) v. FOXTON JUNIORS (nil). The above match flayed at Shannon on Saturday proved a “cake-walk” for Shannon as (lie above scores indicate. Out of Shannon’s 12 tries only two were converted. Yet most of the tries were scored in handy positions. Shannon is sadly lacking in this collection, otherwise the score would have been greatly increased. Seven unconverted tries were scored, by Shannon in .the first spell. The game started twenty minutes' after schedule time, the teams having to wait until the Shannon and Weraroa thirds completed their match. After the game had been in progress for about a quarter of an hour, Perreau received a kick over the eye and had to retire. Ilis injury was attended to by Dr. Mackerel h, who happened to be a spectator. Fox ton was without the services of several of their best backs and the re.-arrangemenf of the team appeared to disorganise their play. Shannon anticipated a close game ns Foxton had defeated Miranui which team had in turn overcome Shannon, but their fears in this collection were dispelled shortly after the game commenced. Foxton, for some unaccountable reason, .could neither keep their feet or handle the ball correctly, while their tackling, with few exceptions, were execrable. Foxton failed to find themselves. Shannon played all over them despite intermittent attempts to rally, ft was a day off for Foxton with a vengeance and the only reason they could offer was the heavy ground as compared with Foxton’s lion-slipping sandy soil. This fact, however, made no difference to Shannon who could not go wrong in any lavement. Mr. Rhodes controlled the game, which was played in a most friendly spirit. FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY, 26th JUNE.
