A big potato competition that has been going on this season in the Marlborough district is an unusually interesting one. It seemed to have been terminated a few days with the production of a tuber weighing s|lb. which was dug up at Grovctown (remarks the “Express”)- But that has now been thrown well back into second place. A Red Dakota which turned the scale at Tib. 3oz. was unearthed on Mr. H. Matthew’s farm, Spring Creek. It is one of many remarkably heavy potatoes dug from a paddock put under crop for the first time in 50 years.
