Tl was stated at last night's mooting of Iho Foxton Borough Council that the borough of Foxlon had not been revalued si nee 1917.
At last night’s Borough Council meeting accounts amounting to £1315 8s 3d were passed for pay meat.
The annual meeting of the Beautifying Society will be held at 7.39 o’clock this evening in Boss’s rooms.
At last night’s Borough Council meeting the poundkeeper reported that during the month 13 head ot stock was impounded and 8/- driving fees collected. The s.s Manaia which struck a rock on Slipper Island last Thursday, is to be sold as she now lies. Her cargo will not be included in the- sole.
A reminder is given that a meeting of all ladies interested in the construction of public swimming baths locally will he held at the residence of Mrs Perreau on Thursday afternoon at 2.45.
Margaret Goodall, in the Dunedin Police Court yesterday, was lined £lO, with easts £4 Os (id, for selling milk which did not comply with I he standard prescribed by regulations, in that it contained less than eigh; and a half per cent of milk solids other than milk.
A letter received locally to-day from Mr. and Mrs Alt' Fraser (apparently from Pitcairn Island) stated that rough weather was experienced for five days after leaving'Wellington, but the weaiher was better subsequently. Doth Mr. and Mrs Fraser were in good health at time of writing. At last night's Borough Council meeting Miss E. Owen tendered her resignation as office assistant owing to the fact that she is shortly leaving for Wellington, where she intends to go in for nursing. The resignation was received with regret, appreciation of her good work while in the Council’s employ being placed on record. Eulogistic reference was also made to Miss Owen’s ability and good wishes expressed for her future. The usual monthly social afternoon of the Presbyterian Ladies' Social Guild was held at the home of Mrs A. Boss on Wednesday afternoon. Tt was decided to donate £2 to the Girls’ Auxiliary Guild for the purpose of purchasing material for their sewing bee. There was a good attendance of members, and two novel competitions caused much interest and amuscement. A dainty afternoon tea was dispensed by the hostess, Mrs A. Boss.
