FOXTON BOWLING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Foxton Bowling Club was held in Perreau’s rooms on Thursday night, presided over by the President (Rev. Walton). Also present were Messrs Admore, Woods, Winstanley, J. Thomson, Jno. Ross, M. E. Perreau, R. Bryant, R. Parkes, W. Nve, J. Ross, Pearson, Parkin, Ma t tar, Roore, F. Woods, D. Christie, J. Barr, Af. Walker and the secretary (Mr. Downes). An apology for absence was received from Air. E. Huntley. REPORT AND BALANCESHEET. The report (as previously published) were then read. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet the President said that the past year had not been favourable. Many factors had militated against it. The overdraft at the Bank had only been reduced by £2. During the year the club had losl one or two members, and 1 lie membership being limited the Club could not afford such losses. He hoped that during the coming season the membership would be increased. Providing that this was done the Club would be better off financially and socially. Air. Christie, in speaking to the report, said that the past season had. financially and socially, been unsatisfactory. There must ho a reason for this, lie said. Some had attributed the cause to the had condition of the green. Personally he was not proud of his position as a member of the committee. The work on the green had been left to one or two to do the lot. Socially (he year had been anything but satisfactory. New members complained that they had had no games. II was for (he old players to see that Ihe new members were never left out of a game. The Nye Ferns had been provided for the benefit and encouragement of new players, but the conditions sol down had not boon carried out. Il rested with 1 lie meeting that night to elect a good committee. Unless the members were prepared to take off their coats and get down to work the Club would not go ahead. In regard to outside competitions, he regretted to say that not one engagement had been kept during the year. Tf the Club made engagements they should he kept. Mr. Wlinstanley considered that the men should lie allowed to pick their own teams at the beginning of Iho season, and these teams should not be altered during the year. The skips should provide'the teams for travelling purposes and they should not he picked by one or two members of the Club. The Club choosing was a drawback to younger players. The President said that Air. Winstanley’s suggestion would he quite all right for a Club with a large membership. The local Club was too small for the carrying ou.t of such a proposition however. In regard to Mr. Christie’s contention re” the non-fulfilment of engagements lie said that on several occasions teams could have been sent away hut because certain members were not going no one went.

The report and balance-sheet were then adopted. ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

Mr. AVinstanley suggested a rinks ladder for the Nye Ferns. A small charge should be made, lie said, and four medals presented to the winning rink at the end of the year. The handicapping for the matches should not he made until after the rinks had been decided on.'

Nye was of opinion that the Committee should deal with the matter. GENERAL.
