VALEDICTORY.

PRESENTATION. TO MRS HEALEY.

The members of the Presbyterian Ladies’ Social Guild entertained Mrs Healey at a farewell evening on Monday last at the home of Mrs J. Ross, Thynne St. Musical items, parlour games, etc., added to the pleasure and enjoyment of those present and the evening passed all too quickly. A dainty supper was provided and dispensed by the ladies of the guild. At a suitable juncture, Mrs McDonald (president) expressed regret at the guest’s departure and stated that Mrs Healey would be missed from the guild afternoons, in connection with which she had been a willing and generous helper in any effort which had been organised. On behalf of the Guild Mrs McDonald asked Mrs Healey to accept a fountain pen as a small token of remembrance and of the esteem in which she was held by all. Mrs Healey suitably responded and in thanking the guild, said she had .always attended the afternoon’s when possible because she had enjoyed them. Mrs J. Ross assured Mrs Healey of a very warm welcome whenever she did pay Foxton a visit again. Mrs W. Bullard, a friend of long standing, briefly spoke on behalf of the Methodist Guild. Before dispersing all present joined in singing “Auld Lang Syne” and “For She’s An Excellent Lady.”

Mrs Healey was entertained at an afternoon by Mrs Percy Easton at her residence, Robinson St., yesterday afternoon when, there was a large attendance of the friends of the guest, and a. very enjoyable social time was spent. During the afternoon two interesting competitions were indulged in. The clock golf competition was won by Mrs J. Robinson and Mrs McDonald annexed the prize for guessing the largest number of public notices. A dainty afternoon tea was partaken ol and opportunity was afforded those present of. wishing Mrs Healey the best of good luck for her future.
