Mr. A. A, Smi tli, of New York, predicts that five years lienee bobbed hair will be a thing of the past. Mir. Smith is a manufacturer of hairpins. A special gyroscope, recently invented, will, when fitted to oceangoing vessels, it is claimed, prevent them from rolling in the heaviest.of seas. No less than 277 rats have been examined at the Auckland Hospital laboratory during the past month. The object is to see what form of disease the rodents may be suffering from. Five thousand illustrated booklets advertising Wellington are to be distributed at the Canadian National Exhibition to be held at Toronto in August next. The Manawatu Bowling Centre governs 13 clubs with a total membership of SGB bowlers. The premier club is Eeilding with 118 members, Terrace End being next with 116.
“The day of the six-wheel lorry is coming,” said Mr. Iggulden at a meeting regarding a weighbridge in Masterton. “These lorries, carrying eight tons, would probably not be so hard on the roads as fourwheel lorries with a good four tons. The reason was that in the latter the weight was practically all on the back wheels, whereas with the six-wheel lorry, the weight was more evenly distributed.”
