NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW.

The main essentials of this well known and popular show are steady progress and solid stability It has been established twentyfour years now and has from small beginnigs, grown to be the most important of all the Winter Show fixtures. The location of the show at Palmerston North is of immense importance to the fixture as its central position and easy accessibility makes it a gathering ground for the farmers from all over the country, many of whom make the Show an annual meeting place with their friends.

It has long been noted for the nember and variety of its exhibits which are staged in six large halls aggregating 75,000 square feet of covered-in floor space. Dairy machinery, though a most important part of the exhibition, is not by any means the only mercantile exhibit to be seen at the National Dairy Show. Many other new and interesting inventions are always to be found on the stands to attract the attention of visitors and four days can be well and profitably spent partly indoors and partly outside at the various football matches and other ring events. Further there are entertainments provided at the evenings sessions so that no dull moment need be spent. The dates are 15th to 19th June, and entries close with the secretary, P.O. Box 85, Palmerston North on Ist June.

A Palmerston youth who hurled a bottle at the engine of a train at Terrace End, on April 5, pleaded guilty and has been committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. The evidence disclosed that accused and a companion, aged 15 years, on the night of the bottle throwing procured fourteen bottles of beer. Having consumed four bottles each, both were in a state of intoxication and decided to throw a bottle that was broken at the engine. This was done by the accused, who in conclusion denied that he had any connection with (he attempts to derail trains. The remaining'bottles of beer were consumed later.
