INSURING MOTOR BUSES.

PREMIUMS FIXED. Wellington, Last Night. Clause 9 of the motor bus reguations stipulates that in order to nsure the safety of the public, etc., he owners of buses must effect inajrance with insurance ofces carrying on business n New Zealand. Terms have now men fixed bv the companies after a ■onference, and briefly are as lolows, to cover owners’ liability of loath or bodily injury to any person, and damage to any property >r any person: — In the case of a bus having a seating accommodation of seven persons, the limit of liability is £3500; for buses licensed to carry passengers in excess of seven, the liability is increased by £SOO. Each additional passenger liability, therefore, works out as fol-lows:—7-seater, £3500; 12-seater, £6000; 20, £l0,000; 30, £15,000. The amount that can be claimed by any injured person is limited to £2OOO. The premiums fixed by the companies, to cover owners’ liabilities, are: For a seven-seater, £35 per annum, with £1 additional for each seat to twelve, and 10s additional for each seat in excess of twelve. The premium on a 12-seater, theiefore, will be £4O: on a 20-seater, £44; and on a 30-seater, £49. Owners having five or more buses, receive a discount of 5 per cent; those having ten or more cars, 10 per cent.
