PRESBYTERIAN BIBLE CLASS .
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Foxton Presbyterian Bible Class was held in the schoolroom last night. There was a good attendance presided over by the leader (Mrs F. McDonald). The meeting took the form of a social evening and games were indulged in and musical items rendered by the various members. The annual report was read as follows: — “Owing to the epidemic of last year the Bible Class did not resume until the month of May, when the class began with a membership of two, Mrs McDonald taking Miss Beard’s place as leader. From a membership of two the class quickly grew, until at the end of June, 1925, there were sixteen members on the roll with an average attendance at meetings of fourteen. The end of the Bible Class year, December fitli, 1925, showed a membership of twenty-six, with on average attendance of fifteen, seven of which were communicants. The first Sunday in each month was kept as Mission Sunday, the collection taken on these days going to various missions. (In this manner the class was able to contribute one pound to the Mission fund). Other contributions were as follows: —Church 355, travelling secretary’s fund 10/-, Bible Class nurse fund 10/-, Student’s Bursary Fund 5/-, Own Maori Missionary 10/-, Turakina M.G.’s College fund £4 10s Od (raised by means of monthly socials. ( The first Sunday in the month was also a day upon which the Class held a social tea *in the schoolroom, each member being at liberty to invite one friend, and thereby creating a pleasant opportunity for the introducing of new members.
Bv the invitation of Miss A. Chapman a deputation of six girls together with Airs McDonald attended the annual meeting of the District Committee held in Palmerston North on .July 31st. This meeting proved very interesting and members were able to learn how other classes were progressing and working. On Sunday, . November 29th, an address was given by Mr. Steele, a student from the University.
At the close of the year 1925, a presentation of a pocket testament was made to each member of the class, with the best of wishes and a sincere desire to see each one back in his or her place at the opening of the class in 192 C. For this year, so far, the attendance has not been as great as last year; two of our members being called to Sunday School work, but il is hoped that in the near future the membership will equal and even surpass that of last year.”
The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £3 17s Gd, which was considered a very satisfactory state of affairs. ft was decided that a sewing guild be held every Friday evening and that a social evening also be continued throughout the present year. A tasty supper was then handed round which brought to a close a very pleasant evening.
