BON VOYAGE TO CR. COWLEY.
HIS SERVICES EULOGISED. At the conclusion of business at last night’s Council meeting Cr. S. E. Cowley applied for leave of absence during his visit to England.. Cr. Walker in moving that he be granted leave of absence, wished Cr. Cowley a pleasant trip and a safe return and expressed the desire that he would find his parents in the best of health on his arrival in England. Cr. McMurray congratulated Cr. Cowley on the holiday lie was about to take and said that while they all wished him a pleasant trip they were sorry that his seat at the table would be vacant for several months. It was men of Cr. Cowley’s calibre that the borough wanted to administer its affairs. He hoped the holiday would prove of cdueatonal value to him as a Councillor as well as being a very pleasant one. The Mayor also regretted Cr. Cowley’s departure and wished him “God Speed” and a safe return. Other Councillors also made eulogistic reference to their fellow Councillor and expressed the desire that he would soon be back again in his old seat at the Council table. Cr. Cowley, on rising to return thanks, was greeted with a round of applause. He said that he had arrived in New Zealand in 1905 and since that time had resided in Foxton. He liked the town and the people and was always glad to come back to Foxton after a holiday. .'He hoped that when he returned from his trip abroad he would still find all his fellow Councillors in their old places at the Council table. In conclusion he thanked the Mayor and Councillors for the kindly sentiments expressed on his behalf.
