ENTERTAINMENTS.

ROYAL PICTURES. “The Scarlet West,” First National’s offering at tho Royal Theatre this week is a gripping chronicle of those stirring days when the West was the home of adventure. The plot is one-which holds a universal appeal and it breathes the atmosphere of army post life (luring the days of Indian warfare. The film depicts the story of Cardelanche, an Indian who is sent to the white mail’s school to be educated. Upon his return he refuses to take part in the Indian warfare against the whites. For rescuing a party of soldiers besieged by Indians lie is made a captain in the United States Army. Buffalo Bill, General Custer, the pony express, the prairie schooner and the gold stampedes are all woven into the tale. Comedy “Felix Trifles with Time.” Re-engagement of Walter Vernon the singing ventriloquist with an entirely new programme. RICHARD DIX IN “THE LUCKY DEVIL.” Take a good looking fellow with a beautiful racing car and no money to run it with. Then add a beautiful girl and her mother in a Ford that refuses to run. Sprinkle liberally with speed, thrills, and laughs and you have a fair idea of Richard Dix’s new picture “The Lucky Devil,” screening at the Town Hall temporary pictures tomorrow (Wednesday) evening. A big motor race in which smashes are numerous, a boxing contest and a fine romance, help to make “The Lucky Devil” a picture which should place Richard Dix still higher in the hall of fame. A comedy “Call a Cop,” Bellgrade (scenic), and News complete a programme screening at usual prices. Preacher, doctor, banker, merchant, all the leading citizens of the average small town figure prominently in the characters of “Thank You,” the leading picture on Friday and Saturday next. George O’Brien, Jacqueline Logan, Alec B. Francis, and J. Farrell McDonald are the leading players.
