FARMERS’ UNION.
PROVINCIAL ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Manawnlu Provincial executive of the New Zealand Farmers’. Union was held at Palmerston North on Saturday, the President (Mr. O. P. Lynch) presiding. There wore also present: Messrs. J. Gloyn, A. G. Dear, M. McLean, IT. Denton, H. McLeavey, A. McLeavev, C. Higginson, B. G. Gower, T. D. Clifford, and L. MeAlpine (Dominion Organiser). The question of promoting increased interest in Union affairs was discussed at length, it being agreed that a system of lectures should be organised during the winter months for the different branches. The election of: officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: — President: Mr. O. P. Lynch (reelected). Messrs. J. Balsillie, .T. A. McLeavey and Gower. Executive committee: Messrs. M. McLean, 11. Bond, 11. Denton, J Gloyn, A. G. Dear, E. Maul, T. D. Clifford, iC. Higginson, IT. McLeavey, R. L. Tippler, Rix, .T. R. Whyte. Delegate to Dominion Conference: Mr. A. G. Dear. Treasurer: Mr. IT. Bond. REMITS TO PROVINCIAL CONFERENCE. The Rangiotu branch moved the following: (1) ‘‘That the Government be urged to make a general re-valuation of New Zealand farming lands.” (2) “That the Government be urged to enforce more stringently the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act, especially in respect of ragwort and blackberry.”
