THE SHANNON BRIDGE.

At the monthly meeting of the No. 9 Highways Board held at M ellington this week, Mr. J. Hannah, chairman, reported in connection with the erection of the new bridge over the Manawatu at Shannon that he had been in consultation with the department’s constructional engineer and'they.,,had come to the conclusion that 110 feet spans were more suited to the locality. This week surveyors would be at work making the necessary surveys and next week a boring party would be engaged getting the depth of the cylinders.
