FOXTON SILVER BAND.

ANNUAL MEETING. ftThe annual meeting of members of tlie above was held on Tuesday night, presided over by Mr. A. Newtli. There was a good attendance of members. The balancesheet was submitted as follows: — Assets £OO7 18s 6d, liabilities nil, credit, balance £l6 Os 3d. On the motion of Messrs R. Rand and 11. Newtli, the balance-sheet was adopted and was favourably commented upon. Formal correspondence was read and dealt with. All the odicers were unanimously re-elected as follows: 'chairman, Mr. J. Newtli; bandmaster, Mr. TT. Osborne; secretary, Mr. D. Knowstub; treasurer, Mr. IT. Osborne; deputy-bandmaster, Mr. F. Ebbett; sergeant, Mr. B. Walls; corporal, 11. Newtli; custodian, Mr. 1). Brooks, Committee, Messrs 11. Newtli, B. Walls, D. Brooks, C. Rand, 11. Osborne, F. Ebbett, and the secretary (Mr. D. Knewstub). The Bandmaster expressed bis thanks to members tor the wholehearted manner in which they had co-operated and made reference to the good feeling which existed. He said they were now established on a sound footing and should make good headwav.

On the motion of Messrs D. Knewstub and Walls it was decided that the members suitably recompense Mr. Osborne senr.. for his services in balancing the books and preparing balance-sheet, and that a letter of appreciation be also forwarded to him. ' It was resolved to get a group photograph taken of the band.

Votes of thanks were accorded to the Secretary and Chairman for their enthusiastic services on behalf of the band. Messrs Knewstub and Newtli suitably acknowledged the compliment and referred to the good feeling and harmony which existed. It was decided to alter the design of the band seal to contain a harp encircled by the words: “Foxton Silver Band Society Incorporated.” It was decided to purchase silver lyre badges for the bandsmen’s caps.

The secretary was instructed to obtain a copy of rules of the North Island Bands’ Association. The usual vote of thanks concluded the meeting.
