ROYAL PICTURES. Ren Ryan, dapper young leading man of First National, lias another feminine screen partner in his latest picture, “The Necessary Evil," which is coming to the Royal theatre next Wednesday. This time it is Viola Dana —Viola of the big blue eyes ami.sympathetic smile. A scientist turned clown—slapped continuously by fate and his fellow (downs —the jest of the circus, whom even the girl he protected would not take seriously—until at last fate gave him his chance of an exquisite revenge, then. . . . “He Who Gets Slapped,” Ron Chaney's greatest, on Saturday next. LYNCH FA MIRY THURSDAY 29th APRIL. After some years absence Foxton is to be favoured with another visit by these noted entertainers. For many years the Lynch Family Bellringers have held a position, pre-eminent in the musical world, and have been a most successful organisation since 1867. Their mastery and dexterious manipulation of the hand bells —their owij invented instrument —<ihe Gjlassophorie, and the great Silver Chimes, has won their reputation throughout the world. In addition the Messrs. Lynch have pleasure in presenting for the second time in Australia, Mdle. Bright a Le Marchant, the superb dramatic soprano from Le Grande, Paris. Also Miss Adie Paul a charming soubrette and danseuse, and Mr. Harry Baxter the inimitable humorist in a new budget of commicalities and quaint stories. Altogether a sparkling programme will be submitted this Thursday evening at the Royal theatre when a full house can be assured to welcome this excellent company. The box plan is now open.
“EVE’S SECRET” AT THE TOWN HALL. Betty Compson’s latest pit;tlire success “Eve’s Secret” holds pride of place in a good programme screening at the Town Hall temporary pictures to-morrow (Wednesday) evening. This dramatic tale of a very modern Eve and her adventures in a very modern Garden of Eden gives Miss iCompson and her leading man, Jack Holt, great opportunities to show their capabilities as portrayers of both tense dramatic and diverting comedy situations. A 2-reel comedy scenic and latest News will be screened also. Thursday and Friday will see the long awaited presentation of “The Iron Horse.” This drama of the thrilling deeds, glamorous romance and hardships encountered, by the pioneers in building the first trans•continenlal railway across America is acknowledged by all as the finest production in New Zealand to-day. George O’Brien, Madge Bellamy amt J. Farrell McDonald head a cast of (5,000 players who include four Indian tribes, a regiment of soldiers and hundreds of railway workers.
