SOCCER.

ATHLETIC v. FOXTON. The above teams met on North St. Park, Palmerston North on Saturday, in splendid weather. Foxton won the toss and elected to play with the sun in their favour. There was very little difference in the play between the two teams during the first fifteen minutes when Ilearsev opened the score for Athletic. From this out until the interval, Athletic got the upper hand and rattled on another four goals. Half-time, Athletic 5 goals, Foxton nil. In the second halt Foxton improved greatly and had more of the play than their opponents, but hard luck dogged them all through. Their field play was very good, bu :t score they could not, until Athletic scored their sixth goal. Within a minute from this Foxton came away and scored their only goal. Play was very fast from now on and Athletic scored again before the whistle sounded for time. Mr. 11. Crouch had control of the game and his decisions gave every satisfaction. For the Athletic, Askim, Trevers, Whitehouse and Hearsay did very well. For Foxton A. Crowe was the outstanding man on the field. The two brothers Pedersen, Taylor and Ferrie were well to the front. Both sides played a man short. Foxton are now due to meet St. Andrew’s on Easton Park on Saturday.
