GRADING OF TEACHERS.
Amended regulations are gazetted relating to the grading of primary school teachers. For the purposes of grading, inspectors are to take into account skill in teaching, personality, discipline, and environment, organisation and management, academic attainments, and service. Any teacher who was on military service for at least one year during the years 1914-20, inclusive, shall, in general, receive the same increase of marks for the period as was received on the average by teachers whose status was similar to his own at the time of his enrolment for military service. A teacher, who by reason of exceptional circumstances, is receiving a salary that would place him in a higher group than the group to which, in the opinion of the inspectors, he rightly belongs, shall, with the approval of the Director, be graded in Group 1, or such higher group as may be recommended by The grading officers. Teachers service in other countries or in schools other than public schools shall be counted to an extent to be determined in each case by the Direcloi. Any period of service with the N.Z.E.F. up tit 12th Novembers 1918, is to count as double service. Training college students are to be assigned grading marks in the first place by the principal of the training college which they have attended.
