SHANNON BRIDGE.

RECONSTRUCTION IN NEAR FUTURE.

At yesterday’s meeting of the Manawatu County Council a general discussion took place in reference 1 o the Shannon bridge re-construc-tion. Councillors did not appear to know how tilings were progressing and it was decided to get into telephonic communication with the chairman of the Highways Board. Sir James’ Wilson subsequently reported that the Board was dealing with the matter and the prospects were bright. It had been decided that the maximum width of the new bridge should be 18 feet and the Board had decided oil the road line, which was now being surveyed. When the surveys and plans had been completed, they would be piosented to the Board for approval and the work would he proceeded with in the near future.
