ALLEGED SHEEP STEALING.
SHEPHERD COMMITTED FOR TRIAL.
Hastings, March 27. Henry Wood, a shepherd in charge of Te Mata Station, Havelock North, the property of William Richmond, sheepl'ariuer and meat exporter, Hastings, was committed for trial at Napier on five charges of stealing thirty-seven sheep, owned ns follows: —Richmond 18, unknown ownership 13, White, sheep farmer, (i, total value £4(l. He was ulso committed on charges of stealing three cattle belonging to Richmond of a value amounting to £25, and on one charge of stealing wool belonging to Richmond valued at £l2. Two other charges were adjourned. It is alleged that the thefts took place at various dates from April, 1925, to February, 192(3. The hearing has lasted two days and a half.
