DRESSING SHEDS FOR FOOTBALLERS.

RACING CLUB SYMPATHETIC. A deputation from the Foxton Rugby Football Club comprising Messrs Hutchins (president), Barron (secretary), J. K, Hornblow and F. Mason waited upon the local Racing Club committee at the Racing Club office last evening and were introduced by Mr. Bergin. The object of the interview was to eslist the assistance of the Racing Club in erecting dressing rooms for footballers on the racecourse and the deputation received a sympathetic hearing. The deputation pointed out that there was no dressing accommodation for footballers at the racecourse, and it had been suggested that suitable conveniences be erected in such a position on the course as not to obscure racing. The trouble was that the Rugby Union took the gate receipts and the club was without the means to finance such a building. The Club, however, was prepared to raise, by special public effort, funds for the purpose and wished to know whether the Racing Club could assist and sanction the erection ofj.be building. The chairman (Mr. W. E. Barber) said they were all sports and would give any definite proposal favourable consideration. The Racing Club, however, would not consent to the erection of a structure that would detract from the appearance of the course. Further the club was already undertaking building operations and also had their own financial difficulties to consider. If a plan and proposed site were submitted to the club, the matter would be further considered.

The deputation promised to submit concrete proposals to the Racing Club for consideration and 1 hanked the Committee for its sympathetic hearing.

It was pointed out during the interview that the Racing Club although entitled to receive 5 per cent of the gate takings had not received anything from the union.
