MUNICIPAL PICTURES.

TO RE-OPEN ON SATURDAY,

Rapid progress is being made with the conversion of the bandroom into a temporary picture hall. The galvanised iron is being placed on the framework, and the floor has been laid. Our representative visited the temporary hall this morning and was shown over the work, and expressed surprise at the result of three days labour. I lie operating box, which projects four feet from the front of the building and a similar distance inside, is nearly completed. The electricians commenced wiring the building yesterday at midday, and the Power Board workmen connected up the “lead-in” wires in the afternoon. The new biograph is to hand and has been assembled in the Council Chambers pending its removal, to the new operating box. The machine represents the last word in biograph manufacture and some very line results are anticipated in picture production. The Town Clerk, when discussing the matter, stated that he hoped to commence screening on Saturday, and with that object in view he had selected a very fine programme for the occasion entitled “The Everlasting Whisper” by Jackson Gregory, featuring Tom Mix.
