If the club was to be successful the finances must be in a healthy condition.

Mr. Fred Robinson outlined the operations of the HorowhenuaManawatu Union and said that although the new body came into existence late in the season last year, and the weather militated against the rep. matches, the finances showed a credit of £l4l. This year return matches would be played with Taranaki and Wanaganui. Local players had been well represented in rep. fixtures and with the local talent coming forward there was no reason why Foxton should not pioduce as good men as could be found in any part of the Dominion. He urged them to be loyal to the club and the officials and to encourage the junior players who had set an example to the seniors in the matter of finance. In order to assist the club’s funds it was decided to hold a shop day. The President said he had been approached re starting a Wednesday competition. There were some players who could not get off to plav in Saturday matches, but if a Wednesday team were formed matches could .be arranged with Levin and Shannon—Left to the committee. The Bcrhnmpore Club asked tor a match to be played locally on Easter Saturday. —Left, to the committee. Mr. Fred. The Foxton club, with two such keen entliusiastis as Messrs Hutchins (president) and Barron (secretary) should send the game along with a hum this season. The first match for the opening of the season will be a friendly go with Berhampore (Wellington) on Easter Saturday. Last time these teams met the visitors defeat was more than compensated for by the splendid hospitality extended to them by the local boys. Mr. Mason hopes to put a good school team in the field this year from students at the D.H.S who will rattle up things in the fourths. The local club has presented the school with one of last year’s balls. Six senior players expressed their willingness to take part in the Opunake seven-a-side tournament. Mr. W. Neville will control the friendly game between I oxton and Berhampore on Easter Saturday.
