USEFUL HINTS.
Mashed potatoes are much improved if boiling milk is poured into them and they are mashed and beaten with a fork. To save eggs, use a tablespoon of powdered gelatine, which is equal to three eggs. Dissolve it in a httifl cold water, -then add enough boil ino* water to make a cupful. Beat well with egg beater and add to other ingredients. ' Always slightly warm Hie jam before putting it on .a Swiss ro , otherwise the stiff mixture may break the roll. When on holiday, coat hangers are not always available. Excellent substitues may be made with a lew newspapers and pieces ot string. Roll the newspaper very tightly and tie firmly around the .middle! making a loop by which to suspend the impromptu banger. Keep a small box of candle-ends, chips of old corks, empty match boxes and used matches. A handful from this little store will quickly revive a dying fire.
