DEATH DUE TO NEGLIGENCE.

♦ MANSLAUGHTER PROSECUTION PROBABLE. Dannevirke, March 9. At the inquest touching the death of George Henry Lawry, a labourer, who was killed on the night of February 6th, as the result of a motor car belonging to Archibald Ernest Joseph Johnson, taxi proprietor, colliding with an electric light pole, and driven at the time of the fatality by G/eorge Paris, a newspaper runner, the Coroner returned an open verdict, adding that there was some degree of recklessness and negligence as to the manner in which the car was driven, which directly contributed to the collision but to what extent such recklessness or negligence was responsible in causing the death of Lawry was a question for another tribunal.
