FROZEN MEAT MARKET.
Messrs. Levin & Co. Ltd., have received the following cable from their London agents, dated 26th February, 1926: — “Frozen meat quotations (prices on a delivered basis, i.e., including storage charges, cartage, tolls, etc.) Down lambs, 28/42’s, lOgd per lb; best North Island 28/42’ls, IOJd per lb; ordinary North Island 28/42’s, lOd per lb; second quality lambs 28/42’s, B£d per lb; best North Island wether sheep 48/64’s, 6£d per lb; best North Island wether sheep 64/72’s, Ojd per lb; ordinary North Island wether sheep 48/64’s, 6£d per lb; North Island ewes 48/64’s, 4£d per lb; North Island ewes 64/72’s, 4d-per lb; New Zealand prime ox beef, 160/220’s, 3d per lb.
As compared with last week’s quotations, down and best lamb is id per lb cheaper, ordinary unchanged, second quality £d per lb cheaper, wethers 48/64’s £d per lb cheaper, 64/72’s unchanged, ewes 48/64’s jd per lb cheaper, 64/72’s £d per lb cheaper, beef id per lb cheaper. The market shows a general weakness with no sign of improvement.
