SCHOOL PICNIC
AN ENJOYABLE OUTING,
The annual schol picnic held at Ashhurst yesterday proved a very enjoyable outing. On Tuesday it was very doubtful if the picnic would be held owing to the inclement weather conditions, but yesterday dawned fine and beautiful weather prevailed throughout the day. A special train conveyed the 600 odd children and parents to Ashhurst where the picnic was held on. the Domain. Races, scrambles, etc. were arranged for the children while the adults picniced in the beautiful bush on the grounds. Upon arrival at the grounds the children were regaled with refreshments —of which there was an abundance, including fruit and sweets. The sports programme was in the hands of the teachers and committeemen and everything went without a hitch. A special word of praise is due to the headmaster (Mr. F. A. Mason) and his many willing assistants, for the manner in which the picnic was organised and carried out. The following are the resuts of the sports events run during the day:—-
