MISSING MEN SAFE
Invercargill, Last Night. The two McKenzies who are engaged in farming pursuits there have been unable to get in on account of continual wet weather and it is not expected they will be able to get their cattle through for another two months. Hopcroft and Beamish, who were prospecting, and Beer, who went in to assist the McKenzies with the cattle, were also at Martin’s Bay and are all in good health. Hopcroft along with Messrs Biggar and Summers, who left eleven days ago to search for the men, reached Ellin Bay this afternoon and later came across by steamer to Queenstown. He is staying there for a day or two and then goes to Dunedin. Hopcroft had been remaining at the McKenzies homestead to come out when the cattle were brought through. Beer and Beamish are still at Martin’s Bay and will return later.
The search party experienced a good deal of wet weather which delayed their return. The men had no idea any anxiety was being felt for their party.
