OBITUARY
ERNEST HARK ISON 110 WAN, AGED 40 YEARS.
We regret to record the death of a well-known erstwhile Eoxton resident in the person of Ernest Harrison Howan, who died in Auckland last Friday. The late Mr. Howan was born in Eoxton in 1880 and lived here until two years ugo. He was educated at the local state school and was, as a young man an enthusiastic member of local sports bodies and was a member of the local Rowing and Volunteer Ritln Clubs. During the war the late Mi 1 Howan enlisted, but did not see active service. On his return to Eoxton after the war lie returned to his former occupation as a butcher. Deceased was a son of one of the earliest pioneers of this district and leaves a widow and one son to mourn their loss.
The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving the Presbyterian Church at 12.45 p.m. for the Eoxton Cemetery.
