PUBLIC SWIMMING BATHS.
ORGANISER APPOINTED,
A woll-atended meeting of those interested in an effort to raise funds for public swimming baths, was held in the Town Hall supper-room on Thursday night. On the motion of the Mayor (Mr. Perreau) Mr. W. T. Jewell was voted to the chair. The Mayor outlined the steps which had so far been taken in the matter and suggested that a secretary and organiser be appointed.
On the motion of Messrs Hornblow and Alexander, Mr Delany was unanimously elected to the position, and his remuneration was fixed at 10 per cent, of the gross receipts. It was decided to hold over the question of site for the baths. Mr. Delany while thanking the meeting for the appointment, said his acceptance of the position would depend upon its not conflicting with another appointment he had accepted. It was decided to hold over the election.of an executive committee until the organiser had brought down a scheme.
Mr. W. T. Jewell wa£ elected permanent chairman.
