NATIVES CONVICTED AND PINED.

Whakatane, February 9,

Charges of selling liquor to Natives were made against Rua, a wellknown Native leader of the Urowera Country, and four confederates, at the Police Court. All pleaded guilty. Pines totalling £l5O and costs £34 12s were inflicted. Statements in Court showed that a big sly grogselling trade had been going on in the Urewera.
