A MENACE TO SOCIETY.

TEN YEARS IMPRISONMENT,

Auckland, Last Night,

Tilt trial of Martha O’Shaughnessy on two charges of unlawfully using an instrument with intent to procure a miscarriage, took place in the Supreme Court to-day before Mr. Justice Stringer.

The jury returned a verdict of guilty with a strong recommendation to mercy on account of her age. The judge, in passing sentence of ten years’ imprisonment, said the prisoner was a menace to society and he would not be doing his duty to the public if he did not pass a very severe sentence.
