Tlu> camp weathered tlu* heavy rains during the early part of this week fairly well, owing, no doubt, to the sheltered nature of the locality.
Yesterday Colonel Powles paid a visit to the camp and inspected the men. (
To-day the battery has been engaged in live shell practice on Messrs Robinson Bros, property, Beach road. The reports of the guns have been louder in town to-day than has been experienced previously, due, no doubt, to the fact that the battery is tiring on this side of Government hill.
