BOROUGH STREETS LOAN.

CARRIED BY LARGE MAJORITY.

The poll for the £SOOO loan proposal for improved streets and footpaths was held yesterday and was carried by 121 votes to 55. There were no informal votes. Out of a rate roll of 582 only about one-third yxcercised their votes. Those opposed, to the loan displayed more activity than those who favoured the proposal. After the result of the poll had been declared, the Mayor (Mr. Perreau) congratulated the ratepayers on the result and stated that the loan would enable the Council to carry out very necessary improvements and at the same expenditure in maintenance work.
