HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT.
The High Commissioner’s cable, dated the Kith inst., reads: Hemp, fair business has been done in Manila. “J” grade, February-April shipments, sold at £47; JauuaryMarch shipments quoted at £46 10s Od. Output last year was 1,253,703 hales as against 1,488,815 bales for the previous year. (Stocks of Manila at 31st December was 165,522 bales, Great Britain 27,196 bales, as against 137,512 and 7,320 Sisal. No. 1. Tanganyika, January-March shipments value £45. New Zealand market quiet and steadier. Nominal is for high points, January-March shipments £4l, fair £37.
