STRANGE BATHING FATALITY.

GIRL HELD UNDER WATER.

Te Kuiti, January 14. A Maori girl named Maliora Kamana, aged 15 years, was drowned at Hangatiki yesterday while bathing in the river. In diving oft the bank she caught on a snag in six feet of water, and was unable to free herself. Her companion called out, and her brother dived in and recovered the body, but life was extinct. An inquest was held last night, and the Coroner brought in a verdict of accidental drowning.
