WEDDING.

HORNBLOW —iFIRTII,

A wedding of local interest was celebrated at Hamilton in the afternoon of New Year’s Day, when Mr J. S. Hornblow, of Palmerston North and eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. K. Hornblow of Foxton, was united to Dorothy Elaine, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs J. Firth, late of Wellington and now of Ilamitlon. The ceremony took place in St. George’s Anglican Church, the officiating minister being the vicar,. Rev. Frank Harty, assisted by the Rev. E. Osmers. The service was choral. At the conclusion of the service, the vicar delivered an eloquent and appropriate address. The bride, accompanied by her father, was attired in cream georgette, with flounce of Brussells lace over flesh crepe-de-chene, with bridal veil of Brussells net and Honiton lace (the latter lent by the bride’s cousin, Mrs R. Russell, of Auckland). The bride carried a sheaf of Easter lilies and white roses, wreathed in tulle. The bridesmaids were: Miss Edna Leach, of Wtellsford, Auckland (attired fin powder blue georgette with rainbow tulle turban, silver shoes); and Miss Kathleen Hornblow, sister of the bridegroom (Paris model of apricot beaded georgette, rainbow tulle turban, silver shoes. Both the bridesmaids carried oldfashioned bouquets. The two little flower girls were Betty and Joan Gentles, attired in pale pink crepe-de-chene, with rainbow godets and pink tulle veils. Mr. R. Hornblow, brother of the bridegroom, officiated as best man, and Mr. W. Edge (Auckland) groomsman. The groom’s mother was attired in a navy blue and white marocain ensemble suit, black hat with silver grey osprey and carried bouquet of red roses; the bride’s mother wore, toast marocain ensemble with black picture hat and carried bouquet of red roses; Mrs W. Yates (bride’s sister), grey marocain with crinoline hat •to match; Miss Sewell (groom’s aunt) black and white jersey suit, small black hat to match; Miss Mary Sewell (Wanganui) cinnamon crepe gown, fawn hat trimmed with gold; Miss Briggs (Whangarei), sand costume and hat to match; Miss Theet (Auckland), rose georgette and silver lace, mauve hat; Miss Rita Saunders (Glen Oroua), floral crepe-de-chene frock and scarlet hat; Miss Dorothy Lumb (Montreal, Canada), green georgette and hat to match; Mrs Edge (Xgaruawhnia) cream cosfume, black hat. After the ceremony a large number of relatives and friends were entertained by the bride’s parents in the church hall, which had been charmingly decorated for the occasion, when the usual toasts were proposed and felicitous speeches made and congratulatory messages and good wishes read from old college friends and well-wishers from different parts of the. Dominion. The. bride’s going-away dress was a brown tailored frock, with smart hat to tone.

Upon their return from Rotorua ami Taujio, Mr and Mrs Hornblow will take up their residence in Palmerston North.
