BOWLING.
A game for the Nye Ferns was played yesterday afternoon between a rink skipped by Thomson (holders) and Barr (challengers). An enjoyable game resulted in the challengers winning by the bare margin of one point, the details being as follows: Holders: Winstanley, Cowley. Christie, Thomson (s) 18. Challengers: Healey, Smith, Roore, Barr (s) 19. The game next week will be with a challenging rink skipped by Walker.
MANAWATU v. BRITAIN
Manawatu Bowling Centre will meet the visiting bowlers from Britain at Palmerston North this afternoon.
The two rinks in which the Foxton players are placed will be as follows:
A. P. Stuart (Northern), M. H. Walker (Foxton), G. H. Trott (Palmerston North), F. Needham (Palmerston North), skip.
W. M. Tapp (Northern), E. Healey (Foxton), P. O. 'Clark (Dannevirke), E. Bissell (Dannevirke), skip.
The British team arrives from Wanganui about noon, travelling by road. Members will be qurtered at the Grad and Club hotels. At two o’clock the Manawatu bowlers will meet the Britishers at their headquarters and take them for a flying visit to the various bowling greens. It is expected that the Palmerston North green will be reached in time to start the match about half-past two o’clock. After this brief trip the lady members of the party will be taken to Pcilding', where they will be entertained at the bowling club by the president, Mr. Geo. Bartholomew, and members of bis Club. A smoke concert will be held in the Empire Ilall, Palmerston North, at eight o’clock.
