AUTOMOBILE CLUB.
Yesterday Mr. E. Cashmore Robinson, of Wellington, organiser of the Wellington Automobile Club, was in Foxton, making preliminary arrangements with a view to organising members and appointing a local consul of that body. Mr. Robieson informed us that during the past few days he has completed the survey of roads in this district in preparation for the extension of the Automobile Club’s work in the interests of motorists.
The Club has completed the erection of 100 signboards on the Wellington-Levin roaiL every township being named ns entered by the highway, and in addition distances to adjacent towns are given. The informtion is found to he of great value to motorists. (
The purpose of the Automobile Club is to organise ear owners for the protection of their own interests. The direct benefits include hotel concessions from Motor Union houses, free legal advice on matters concerning motoring, a copy of the Motor Year Book and North Island Road Guide a (comprehensive volume), and a full and up-to-date road information service.
The Club also has future objectives of importance to motorists. Mr. Robieson will visit Foxton again in the near future for the purpose of completing arrangements.
