BOWLING.

During the Christmas holidays the local green was occupied mainly with pairs tournaments, on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. On Boxing Day the decision was allotted on the wins from three rounds of 12 heads. Roore and Christie Jnv. and ,J. Thomson and J. Walls tied with two wins each, and had to play off. The result was that Roore secured the final de-

A visitor to Foxton just now is -Mr. J. Walls, of Wellington, a bowling enthusiast who, despite his age of 77 years, played throughout the two days pairs tournaments during the holidays, and was as fresh and keen at the end of each day’s play as the youngest member on the green. Mr Walls is accompanying his son, Mr. W. Wjalls, of Wellington (who was for some-months representing R. Y. Walls, electrieions, in Foxton) on a holiday visit here, extending over the New Year.

During the New Year holidays play on the local green will be conducted as circumstances warrant.

On Tuesday the second day’s play in the Wanganui Centre tournament was completed. The Foxton rink — Winstaulev, Christie, Thomson, Roore (s) —had two losses and one win, making the figures to date five losses and oue win. The scores were as follows: —Fourth round, Brown 31 v. Roore 15; fifth round, Roore 20 v. Battle 16; sixth round, Sewell 21 v. Roore IS.
