The acting Consul cGneral of Czechoslovakia in Sydney, advises that an ollieial cable reaching him on November 18, 1925, intimates that the share capital of the National Bank of Czechoslovakia, being recently established in the Republic as llie bank issue, the share capital of which was fixed by law at £2,500,000, was oversubscribed two and a half times.
“Speed maniacs: Before taking this hill, order your coffins.” These words printed in red and black letters on a white notice board and surrounded with a fearsome skull and crossbones, constitute the most recent attempt by the Clutha County Council to warn motorists against danger, reports the “Southland Times.” Two such notice boards are to be erected at two most dangerous places on the Catlins district road. Similar notice boards have been found very affective as danger signals in America.
That there are excellent possibilities of trade with Mexico is the opinion of Mr. G. Hyde, an engineer who has just returned from abroad. Mr. Hyde informed the New Zealand Herald that he found the Mexicans more friendly toward the British than toward the Americans. They were a line hospitable people and there was, he was sure, a profitable market there for frozen meat. New Zealand was inclined to be too dependent on Europe for its exports. There was an excellent market awaiting it one the Pacific Coast.
