HEMP MARKET.
NOVEMBER GRADING RETURNS.
The grading returns for hemp, tow, stripper tow and stripper slips for the month of November have been issued by the Department of Agriculture as follows: The detailed particulars of the hemp graded are:—
Seven bales at Dunedin were graded fine. Fourteen bales at Auckland, fid at Foxfon and six at Lyttelton were rejected and 25 bales at Wellington condemned. The number of bales in each grade were as follows, the number for the corresponding period of last year being given in parenthesis:— Fine 7 ((i), good fair 78(i (913), high fair 459(1 (4025), low fair 3358 (3152), common 239 (70(1), rejected 111) (111), condemned 25 (51) a total of 9121 bales as against 80(14 graded the same period last year, an increase of 457 bales. The number of bales graded at» each port were: —Auckland 2037, Foxton 2004. Wellington 3050, Wairoa 437, Lyttelton 00, Pt. Chalmers 250, Dunedin 425, Bluff 798. The following shows the detailed particulars of the tow graded:—
Seven bales at Auckland, and ‘25 at Wellington were condemned. The following shows the number of bales in each grade, the number for the corresponding period of last year being given in parenthesis:— Ist grade 338 (419), 2nd grade 1G53 (1358), 3rd grade 372 (537), condemned 32 (97), a total of 2395 bales as against 2413 graded for the same period last year, a decrease of 18 bales.
The number of bales graded at each port were: —Auckland 558, Eoxton 39G, Wellington 570, Wairoa GB, Lyttelton 99, Pt. Chalmers 155, Dunedin 2G, Bluff 523. Stripper Tow. —Eleven bales at Wellington were graded Ist grade, 78 at Eoxton and 146 at Wellington 2nd grade, and 99 at Wjeliingfon 3rd grade, making a total of 334 bales as against 77 graded last year being an increase of 257 bales. Stripper Slips.—Seventy-live bales at Auckland 28 at Eoxton and 52 at Bluff were graded 2nd grade and 24 at Auckland, 12 at Wairoa, 30 at Eoxton and 58 at Bluff were passed for export. One bale at Auckland was condemned. The total number graded was 280 as against 303 for the same period of lasl year, a decrease of 23 bales.
