SPORTING.

WOODVILLE RACES

The Woodville His triet Jockey Club may have three division races on Wednesday next, and will almost certainly have two. In order to meet owners in the hardship entailed by the division of stakes, the Club has decided in such event to make the stake for each division of the Trial Plate £75, and for the Flying Handicap and Welter Hack races £9O. The stake for each division will thus be increased to about 75 per cent, of the original moneys. Owners will appreciate the Club’s action in exceeding its obligation in this manner. The Woodville Jockey Club has made special arrangements for the convenient transit of Foxton racegoers to and from Woodville on Wednesday and Thursday next. The morning train from Foxton connects with the special train leaving Palmerston North at 10.5, and the Club has arranged with Messrs Madge Bros, to run a special bus from the Palmerston station to Foxton immediately after the arrival of the return special from Woodville. This will enable all patrons of the sport along the Foxton line to attend the races, and watch the form, which is always a good indiction for the holiday meetings.
