HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
A meeting of the Horticultural .Society was held in Ross’s rooms last night, Mr. D. Christie, president, occupymgthe chair. Also present were: — Messrs. W. Nye, James Ross, Murphy, S. M. Boole, Tyer aud .the Rev. Beryman, Mesdames R. Moore, E. Healey, B. Easton, J. M. Barr and if. McMurray. Apologies were received from Miss ltoss and Mesdames E. Proctor and Murphy.
The secretary read a financial statement for the summer show, it stated that there were 583 entries, and receipts were £3B 13/7, which with expenditure £34 8/3, left a credit balance of £4 8/1.
The president remarked that the Society had every reason to be satislied with the result of the show. A communication was received from the Rev. Walton, in which lie .-dated that he wished to abide by nis decision in regard to his resignation from the committee. Special prizes have been presented for the best exhibit of cut blooms with no limit to the numbti of exhibits. This class is being added to take the place of the cottage garden class which was deleted this year. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
