TO-MORROW’S SUMMER SHOW

ARRANGEMENTS COMPLETE FOR RECORD ATTRACTION.

Despite the fact that the weather conditions of late have not been altogether favourable to the propogation of plant life, there are indications that the Horticultural Society’s Summer Show, to be held in the Town Hall tomorrow, will be a record success.

Intending exhibitors are reminded that entries close with the secretary, in the C. M. Ross Buildings (upstairs) at 8 o’clock this evening. Late entries up to 9 a.m. at the Town Hall, to-morrow, ~at double fee.

This year the Show should prove a big attraction to the general public, as not only will they be afforded the privilege of viewing the exhibits in flowers, decorative classes, vegetables and produce, hut will be entertained with vocal items, and the Silver Band will play selections.

Dainty home-made cakes, scones and sandwiches will be found in the tea-rooms, both in the afternoon and evening.

A feature of special appeal will be the decorated table with embellishments competition, in which the public will be afforded an opportunity of voting on the question of which table they consider should be awarded the prize. The decision of the judge will be withheld until 8.30 p.m. at which hour the voting will close. It will be interesting to note the comparison between the judge s award and that of the public. Get your voting paper when paying for admission.

Mr. Jim Ross has donated a beautiful floating howl tor the best rose in the show. This can he won outright with one rose. Mr. Tong’s trophy is for the best

seed cake. Also Air. Whitehead's Family Cake and limit cake, aie specials with good prizes. The cooking exhibits by school children, prepared under the direction of Airs Woolf, cooking mistress should interest the mothers.

In all, £26 in prize money is allotted, in addition to numerous trophies. Competitions will he' arranged with a handsome watch and a beautiful cake as the prizes.

Afembei’s and well-wishers of the Society are asked to help by contributing to the. tea-rooms instead of a cake-stall. Airs John Ross and Airs McLaren will he pleased to receive cakes, scones or sandwiches. The Show will be opened at 2 o’clock in the afternon, by the Mayor (Mr Al. Perreau) in the unavoidable absence of Air. Linklater, ALP., who is at present in Auckland, and also in the evening. The prices of admission for non-members will be adults 1/-, children 6d, undei 12 years 3d.
