YOUNG HELPERS’ LEAGUE.
A meeting of the Foxton school branch of the Young Helpers’ League was held on the tennis court recently when the annual boxopening eventuated. This year the result of the children’s self denial on behalf of Dr. Barnardo’s Homes is most gratifying as the opening resulted in the sum of £6 Is 5d being forwarded to Miss Joyce, dominion secretary. Two members: Donald Chrystall and Frank Cowley have qualified for the League’s Silver Badge, by giving three years continuous service, and for having collected not less than five shillings each year. Miss Williams (local secretary) desires to thank all members for their splendid effort this year, also Misses Mullaney, Dent and Browning for their valued assistance in dispensing afternoon tea and organising the games which contributed largely to the uccess of the annual gathering.! Mr. F. A. • Mason, headmaster, presented the Silver Badges yesterday at afternoon assembly and in doing so conveyed to the winners the congratulations of the dominion secretary, as being the two first Foxton boys to have achieved tbe honour. New members cards and boxes are now available and may be obtained on application to the local secretary.
