FLAXCUTTER PROSECUTED

SHARGE OF STRIKING FAILS. Palmerston North, Nov. 17. In the Magistrate’s Court, John Lee, flaxcutter, at Miranui, was proceeded against by the Inspector of Awards, who claimed £lO as a penalty for on or about. August 19 instigating or abetting an unlawful strike of flaxcutters at Miranui. The Inspector stated the dispute occurred at Miranui over fixing the price for cutting a new block of flax and as a result two gangs ceased work. After hearing the evidence the Magistrate gave a decision in favour” of defendant," saying no evidence was adduced that he ha abetted a strike.
